KLEIN ONLINE THEORY COURSE

An online course exploring the seminal works of Melanie Klein. Klein's writing will besituated historically and at all times, the theory will be linked to clinical practice.

 

Seminar 1: 7 May 2025 - Introduction to the course, Melanie Klein and her work.

Seminar 2: 14 May 2025 - Unconscious Phantasy Isaacs, S. (1948). The Nature and Function of Phantasy.

Seminar 3: 21 May 2025 - Infant Development Some Theoretical Conclusions Regarding The Emotional Life of the Infant (1952)

Seminar 4: 4 June 2025 - Klein's Play Therapy Technique The Psychoanalytic Play Technique: It's History and Significance (1955)

Seminar 5: 11 June 2025 - The Depressive and Paranoid Schizoid Positions Notes on Some Schizoid Mechanisms (1946) A Contribution to the Psychogenesis of Manic-Depressive States (1935) Mourning and its Relation to Manic-Depressive States (1940)

Seminar 6: 18 June 2025 - Envy & Gratitude and Thoughts on Current Kleinian Practice Envy and Gratitude (1957)

    Nina Wessels is a consultant child and adolescent psychotherapist and psychoanalystworking with children, young people and adults. She completed her childpsychotherapy training at the Tavistock Clinic in London, and subsequently worked intheir Child and Family Department. She has worked as a therapist in school settings,organisations and private practice. She has given talks at conferences and taught andsupervised on various therapy training courses in the UK and abroad.
