FREUD ONLINE THEORY COURSE

This course aims to equip the attendee with a working conceptualisation of some of Freud's key metapsychological contributions to understanding the human mind during the earliest stages of mental development. These concepts, such as the unconscious, the Oedipus complex, narcissism and early object relations provide the fundamental framework for a psychoanalytic approach to infant, early childhood, adolescent and adult mental life. The seminars follow the Tavistock method and are discussion based.

    Dr Coenie Hattingh is a neuropsychologist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist in private practice in Cape Town. He is a past chair of the Cape Town Society for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and is a candidate with the South African Psychoanalytical Association. Coenie is a Fellow of the Research Training Program of the International Psychoanalytical Association and a member of the South African Psychoanalytical Initiative. His clinical practice is rooted within the contemporary Freudian tradition.
