Siobhan Sweeney
Dr Siobhán Sweeney (PhD) is a registered Counselling Psychologist practicing in Cape Town, offering parent-infant psychotherapy and psychoanalytically informed psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults. She also frequently works with under-fives and offers parent support. Siobhán has a particular interest in attachment, child development and parental or caregiving experience; and was awarded her PhD in Psychology at Rhodes University, which focuses on Maternal Subjectivity of working mothers in South Africa. She is a Facilitator/Teacher offering courses for the Institute for Psychodynamic Child Psychotherapy (IPCP) and the Course Co-ordinator for the IPCP Child Development Course. Siobhán is committed to broadening her psychological knowledge and clinical experience by being a member of a relevant societies and associations (namely the South African Association for Infant Mental Health (ZAAIMH), the Cape Town Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Group (CTCAPG), and the South African Psychoanalytic Initiative (SAPI)).
